Personal Profile

I trained on the Royal Marsden Hospital, Registrar/Senior Registrar rotation from 1993 to 2001. I did a post graduate MD at the Institute of Cancer Research for two years looking at a novel molecular therapy in  patients with lymphoma and was awarded an MD thesis from the University of London in 2001.I was a locum consultant at the Royal Marsden Hospital for a year before starting in Sussex in 2002   I specialise in treating patients with lymphoma and full range of gastro-intestinal cancers and renal cancers.  I work mainly at BSUH but do one day a week at Western Sussex NHS Trust treating gastro-intestinal cancers there. I have a particular interest in management of older patients with cancers.

I am Lead for Chemotherapy and Inthrathecal Chemotherapy for the Trust.  I chair the Chemotherapy Committee for the Sussex Cancer Network.  Nationally I am a member of the Clinical Advisory Board for the Cancer Charity Macmillan and I am a member of the National Cancer Research Institutes for Lymphoma.

Following my consultant appointment I have continued to maintain research interests with publication of over 40 papers, abstracts, book chapters, a number of invited reviews and editorials.   I continue to review manuscripts submitted to Journals by other Researchers.  I am a member of the National Cancer and Research Institute Group for research into aggressive non Hodgkins  Lymphomas and have just completed a national study looking at a novel regimen for patients who are not fit enough for standard treatment.  I am Principal Investigator in Sussex for a number of clinical trials in lymphoma, gastric intestinal cancers and renal cancers.  I have developed academic links with Chelsea and Westminster HIV Oncology Department and the Royal Marsden Hospital which has led to joint publications.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing or watching most sports.  I am also a keen amateur cook of marginal ability.
